Kkrieger -The smallest 3D game

If someone gives you an obsolete floppy disk of 1.44 MB in size and tells you- “Hey buddy there is a superb 3D Game in this disk”, I know you probably will think that this guy is bluffing a bad joke. But you get more surprised when you know the actual size of Game- its less then 96 KB. Yes it’s true it’s in Kilo Bytes not Mega Byte. The name of the game is ” .kkreiger”. Its actual size is 97,280 bytes of disk space. 

If you think that it will be garbage and you are just about to experience the worst 3D game of your life, then you better play this Game and find out yourself. It’s a First-person shooter (FPS) 3D game with amazing graphics. But before installing the game on your system please check the Minimum hardware specification needed to run this game. Your machine should have at least –

1.5 GHz Pentium 3 / Athlon or faster 

512 MB of RAM 

GeForce 4Ti (or higher) or ATI Radeon 8500 (or higher) graphics card supporting pixel shader 1.3 

DirectSound-compatible sound hardware 

DirectX 9.0b 

Microsoft Windows 

96 KB disk space 

Now you would be interested to know – who developed this game and how it works? .kkreiger  is developed by the “German demogroup .theprodukkt. The games was developed in 2002 and won the first price in 96k games competition in April 2004. This game has also won the two German Game Developer prizes at Deutscher Entwicklerpreis in 2006. .Kkreigger is not developed in the conventional game development techniques. The game has developed in more of procedural generation methods. Many game developers claim that if it would have been developed in conventional techniques then its size would have been around 200-300MB. The game also has music and sound which is produced by a multifunctional synthesizer called V2, which produce the music in real time by continuous MIDI data stream embedded in game.

This game is actually amazing. I played and finished it.. still can’t get my head around how it was done in that size!
